Deja vu Iran

November 23, 2004

Iran, U.S. FlagsThe drumbeats of war are beating once again, but it is not directed at Iraq this time. As we now know, Iraq was the first nation on the neocons target list. Iran and Syria are the next targets. This formula to destroy and occupy a number of strategic nations in the Middle East that is an escalating threat to Israel was drawn up in the nineties in neocon think tanks, long before September 11th.

Before Secretary of State Colin Powell leaves the Bush administration, he has begun the campaign for the Bush clan to condition the mind-numbed sheep that Iran is fast becoming an intolerable threat worthy of glorified preemption. According to Powell, Iran is developing a missile system to deliver nuclear warheads.

The Secretary of State told the Washington Post that:

“I have seen some information that would suggest that they have been actively working on delivery systems … You don’t have a weapon until you put it in something that can deliver a weapon.”

Powell went on to say:

“There is no doubt in my mind … they have been interested in a nuclear weapon that has utility, meaning that it is something they would be able to deliver, not just something that sits there.”

No doubt in his mind, makes me wonder if this same “no doubt” is the same certainty that he had about Iraq when he went before the UN security council with his plagiarized intelligence that inexplicably convinced him and the Bush clan that Iraq had vast caches of WMD with delivery systems capable of hitting the East coast, not to mention a blossoming nuclear arms program. It was of course all lies, and they knew it.

What is the source for Powell’s certainty about Iran’s fast developing threat? According to the Washington Post, this bit of intelligence simply walked in.

“According to one official with access to the material, a ‘walk-in’ source approached U.S intelligence earlier this month with more than 1,000 pages purported to be Iranian drawings and technical documents, including a nuclear warhead design and modifications to enable Iranian ballistic missiles to deliver an atomic strike.”

The new intelligence has not been corroborated by any other source; it has been simply put out there as fact by the Secretary of State. Is this Niger “Yellow Cake” all over again? Most likely, because the new round of anti-Iranian propaganda has a familiar ring to it, we have heard this all before from the same set of propagandists.

Before the Iraqi rape by the Bush clan, we consistently heard from Ahmed Chalabi and the Iraqi National Congress; so called Iraqi freedom fighters and expatriates. They were in the front lines in the disinformation campaign to gear up the American sheeple for their extraordinary act of selflessness in liberating the Iraqi people. Well, here is the Iranian version of the Chalabi “lies R us” club, they call themselves the National Council for Resistance in Iran (NCRI). According to these new typical expatriates, and freedom fighters -

“Mohammad Mohaddessin, chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the Paris-based NCRI, told reporters at a news conference that the Khan network delivered to the Iranians a small quantity of highly enriched uranium that could be used in making a bomb. But he said the amount was probably too small for use in a weapon.”

What the neocons will not tell you is that the NCRI are neo-Marxists with a neocon bent. They are fanatical and they are anti-democratic as they get. Such strange bedfellows, or is it strange?

Israel and the neocons have long been gunning for Iran, and it is now the question of who will preemptivly attack first and when. Will it be Israel or the United States? It really does not matter who will violate the sovereignty of Iran in an act of aggressive war. From Iran’s perspective, an attack by either is an attack by both. American forces in Tehran in 2005? I doubt it, Iran has a large landmass, and they have a military and population size that could mount an effective defense. Unlike the Iraqis, the Iranians can actually defend themselves, which could prove to be the “Achilles Heel” for the last remaining Super Power.
